Saad Eltinay est un photographe soudanais né à Khartoum (Soudan). Diplômé en génie logiciel en 2018, il exerce sa passion pour les arts visuels, en particulier la photographie, depuis 2012. Sa pratique est pour lui une forme de refuge et un moyen d’expression personnelle. Il s’inspire des émotions humaines pour créer des images. Remettant en question son environnement et chérissant ses souvenirs, il tente de réfléchir à la manière dont la société, la culture et la psychologie influencent la vie humaine. Ses travaux sur la révolution soudanaise ont été récompensés au niveau local et présentés dans de nombreuses expositions, notamment “THAWRA ! REVOLUTION ! SUDAN, THE HISTORY OF AN UPRISING” aux Rencontres d’Arles 2021.
Saad Eltinay is a Sudanese photographer based in Khartoum. He graduated as a software engineer in 2018 and has been exercising his passion for visuals, in particular photography, since 2012. Using the practice as a refuge occasionally and a method for self-expression, Saad’s observational approach in creating visuals is inspired by an interest in nuances of human emotion. Questioning his surroundings and cherishing memories, he tries to ruminate on how society, culture, and psychology put on human life. His works on the Sudanese revolution were awarded locally and showcased in numerous exhibitions, including THAWRA! REVOLUTION ! SUDAN, THE HISTORY OF AN UPRISING exhibition at Les Rencontres d’Arles 2021.

Accompagné de sa chienne Ocean, sa compagne de route et de survie, Saad Eltinay explore Paris. Ensemble, ils capturent les intersections fugaces entre mémoire, résilience, amitié et sororité, humaines comme plus qu’humaines. Panneaux de rue, graffitis, lieux oubliés, textures urbaines et topographies invisibles composent un dialogue visuel entre passé et présent, exil et appartenance. Portraits d’Ocean, scènes de rue silencieuses et traces de vie quotidienne s’enchaînent dans un montage au style de « hasard minutieux », invitant le spectateur à s’y reconnaître.
Born out of the turmoil of war in Sudan and shaped by two years of forced migration, this photo-video-essay navigates between Khartoum and Paris, tracing a journey that is both deeply personal and political. From the dehumanizing experience of war to the relative comfort of an artist residency at the Cité internationale des arts, Saad Eltinay explores mental health, peace, and the fragile connections between cities across the world.
Alongside his dog Ocean—his companion through displacement and survival—Eltinay walks the streets of Paris, capturing fleeting intersections of memory, resilience, friendship, and both human and more-than-human kinship. Street signs, graffiti, overlooked textures, historical sites, and invisible urban topographies form a visual dialogue between past and present, exile and belonging.
The sequence moves between portraits of Ocean, quiet street scenes, and traces of daily life, attempting to merge fragments of two cities into a single shifting surface where memory, displacement, and everyday life overlap. Edited with a style the artist calls “precise chance,” the work invites viewers to unexpectedly recognize themselves within its images.
